AU ENVIRONMENTAL

AU Environmental, is a company which has been actively involved in earthmoving and environmental water treatment engineering works and have noticed a need for environmental training for contractors, local council employees and consultants working in this industry. Their motivation is to ensure that best practice in environmental management is embedded in the culture and operational activities of employees, contractors and agencies involved in the construction sector.

AU Environmental have developed excellent and comprehensive list of accredited and non- accredited training programs that are available with our affiliates partners for industry in QLD ,NSW and VIC including:

1. Water Quality Analysis Training for the Construction Industry

Non accredited. This 3 hour workshop is designed for environmental officers, project managers, site supervisors, field personnel, foreman, surveillance officers and council officers working in the construction industry and addresses; water quality monitoring, site selection & sampling techniques; instrument calibration and quality control; physical and chemical testing; legislative objectives and water quality discharge from worksites.

2. One Day Course – Fundamentals of Erosion & Sediment Control (IECA Approved Training)

One-day (approximately 6 hours) workshop covers all of the content from our half-day workshop but with additional detail about the White Book (or Blue Book for NSW), site inspections and ESCP review/preparation. The course is suited to project managers, engineers, compliance personnel, environmental officers and other site personnel who require a greater level of detail regarding ESC.

3. One Day Course – ESC for Regulators (IECA Approved Training)

A variant of this one-day Fundamentals of ESC course is also available. This course is suited to local Council and State Government regulatory staff. It includes the following additional content and provides participants with the following:

Ability to critically analyse the compliance of onsite erosion and sediment control with regard to legislation and recommended industry practice;

Provides an understanding of site inspections and investigations and the consequences of non-compliance.

4. Two Day Course – Construction Environmental Management Training

Two-day Construction Environmental Management Training Course is designed to provide construction personnel with a better understanding of environmental issues they are likely to face on a project. Day 1 of the course covers environmental risk management, weed and vehicle hygiene, pests, flora and fauna, spill response, environmental monitoring (air, noise, vibration), contaminated land, acid sulphate soils, waste management and cultural heritage. Day 2 of the course is our one-day Fundamentals of ESC Course (IECA Approved Training). This course has been designed to teach construction personnel the basics of site environmental management and to give them confidence in their decision making regarding environmental risk on site.

5. Half Day Course – The Basics of Erosion and Sediment Control

This is our most popular workshop. It is designed to give participants a fundamental, practical overview of best-practice erosion and sediment control. It runs for about three to four hours.

The workshop is designed to be relevant for anyone involved in civil works, from those who prepare and review plans for erosion and sediment control to those who are responsible for installing, maintaining, overseeing or inspecting site works. It aims to equip participants with the fundamental knowledge and skill to address erosion and sediment control issues on any and all sites.

The workshop includes a powerpoint-style presentation with photo examples, a discussion forum, basic group exercises and numerous question times. It is designed to be interactive, engaging and interesting.

The range of topics covered is tailored according to the audience, so that those issues most relevant to them are addressed.

Recent clients include Bega Valley Shire Council, CPB Contractors, Gympie Shire Council and BMD Constructions.

6. Blue Book Volume 1 Workshops

A series of four workshops that train participants in key aspects of erosion and sediment control. These workshops go beyond the basic, onsite issues of installation and maintenance to include the design issues behind specific control measures, plus preparing or reviewing plans for erosion and sediment control. Participants can attend one, two, three or all of the four workshops, although each progressive workshop assumes a sound knowledge of the previous days’ topics.

Workshop 1 introduces the erosion and sediment control framework in terms of Volume 1 of the Blue Book.

Workshop 2 builds on workshop 1 and identifies key design issues in the Blue Book. It aims to guide participants through the Blue Book and highlight the most relevant parts.

Workshop 3 is all about water management on construction sites – sediment basins and diversion structures.

Workshop 4 gives participants the chance to practice designing and reviewing plans for erosion and sediment control on a range of different land uses (e.g. subdivisions, roads, high-density housing). See www.environmentaltraining.com.au for scheduled offerings of our four-day Blue Book course.

This course is approved by the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) and is designed to prepare people to sit the exam to become a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC).

7. Queensland 4-Day Erosion and Sediment Control Training

Four workshops that train participants in key aspects of erosion and sediment control.

Workshop 1 introduces the fundamentals of erosion and sediment control framework as they apply on all sites.

Workshop 2 builds on workshop 1 and identifies key design issues in the IECA Best-Practice White Book and the Sunshine Coast Regional Council Maroon Manual. It aims to guide participants through these manuals and highlight the most relevant parts.

Workshop 3 is all about water management on construction sites – sediment basins and diversion structures.

Workshop 4 gives participants the chance to practice designing and reviewing plans for erosion and sediment control on a range of different land uses (e.g. subdivisions, roads, high-density housing). See www.environmentaltraining.com.au for scheduled offerings of our four-day Queensland course.

This course is approved by the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) and is designed to prepare people to sit the exam to become a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC).

8. Queensland: Short, “Hands-on” Basics of Erosion and Sediment Control

Regular, one-day, “hands-on” training courses are presented by SEEC at Vital Environment’s ESC Training Facility near Brisbane. This purpose-built facility allows for live action field demonstrations of a variety of erosion and sediment control measures.

What make our courses unique is the flexibility and the current industry expertise that the trainers share with the participants. The quality of the training delivered is crucial to the successes achieved to date. All of our staff and trainers work in the industry & therefore can keep well informed of industry changes, standards and requirements
